Why am I involved?
The 2015 edition of the Tour de Force was one of the most challenging, yet rewarding experiences of my life. It wasn’t so much overcoming the physical and mental strains of Alpine stages (although that was immensely satisfying), but more from the perspective that we were doing something which would have a genuine and tangible impact on the under-privileged children who would benefit from all of the generous donations.
So, after a “recovery” year away from the saddle, I’m delighted to be back on the bike, raising more money for the fantastic William Wates Memorial Trust.
Taking lessons from 2015, I’ve decided to add an extra day onto my stages (up to 3 from 2), dialled down the amount of climbing (no Alps this time) and made friends with my turbo trainer much earlier in the year!
In theory, Neil and I have chosen the most picturesque stages, in the Pyrenees and Massif Central……..in reality, we’re looking at some seriously punchy climbs and up to 10 hours per day in the saddle.
I’m sure between the three of us (Michael, Neil and myself) and our supporters, family, friends and colleagues, we can inspire each other to make a difference once again.
Check back in for blog posts, pictures and training updates as we get nearer the big event.
